A sustainable future for Benin
PlanFutur inspires and empowers people in rural Benin to develop knowledge and skills to provide for their own livelihood
Our Focus
PlanFutur’s philosophy is based on solidarity and equality – and the belief in a world where all children have the opportunity to realize their dreams.
Our dream is to become an important player in stimulating entrepreneurship in Benin. This involves reducing unemployment and encouraging innovation and creativity. ”
The Challenges in Benin
PlanFutur is a foundation that works for underprivileged young people in Benin.
Benin, on the west coast of Africa, is one of the poorest countries in the world.
The population consists of almost 60% young people, 48% of whom are illiterate: the majority of young people do not follow further education after primary education, because of the registration costs that are often not affordable for families.
Many young people live in poverty, have limited access to education and health car and see few opportunities on the labor market.
PlanFutur is working to ensure that adolescent young people, especially the girls, have access to education and the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Our Other Initiatives
PlanFutur’s projects are in line with the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals, as set in the year 2000: to eradicate poverty and hunger, to achieve general education for all children, to promote gender equality, and to increase gender equality and health.
